Dikanza supplies a dry, rasping spine while guitar and accordion weave light-footed ússua and socopé patterns around it. Puita and hand drums bring a deeper bodily pull, offset by the brighter ring of bells and the clipped movement of island strings. Some passages proceed with formal processional weight; others settle into compact dance cycles associated with São Tomé and Príncipe. The contrast between scraper grain, rounded drum tone, and melodic string turns gives the album its supple, unmistakably creole character.
