Violão opens the album with slow, minor-modal arpeggios, leaving room for cavaquinho to place brighter, drier notes above the bass. As the pulse firms, gaita draws a restrained bellows melody through the center while ferrinho adds a fine metallic scrape at the edge. The music moves between morna's lingering phrases and the tighter 2/4 lift of coladeira and funana, holding warmth and rhythmic definition in equal measure. Long string resonance widens the São Vicente passages; sharper scraped cycles give the Santiago sections a dustier texture and contained momentum.
