A gourd-resonated musical bow sits at the centre, its dry strike opening into shifting overtones as the calabash changes the colour of each note. Seed rattles and wooden taps remain spare, making room for reed flute or lamellophone to answer in small pentatonic figures. Most pieces move at a slow walk over static open fifths, with long pauses carrying as much weight as the pulse. Namib and Kalahari dryness, Kavango river light, and the colder air of the Skeleton Coast give the album a striking range of mineral, green, and misted textures.
