Taut garaya cells and bowed goge replies sway across a dry, finely grained rhythmic floor.

Garaya sets out taut plucked cells, and goge stretches them into bowed replies that hover around a narrow modal centre. Kalangu bends the rhythm as well as the pitch, while calabash knocks and rattles maintain a dry, finely grained floor. The album passes from measured Hausa courtly spacing to the swaying 6/8 of Zarma and Songhai textures, then tightens around northern guitar cycles and tende-like pulse. Reed calls and long trumpet tones appear sparingly, adding scale without turning the music into a desert emblem.
