Nyatiti lays down a dry, cyclical string pattern while orutu bends a narrow, expressive line above it. Ankle bells and hand drums sharpen the movement, with litungu, coastal percussion, and taarab strings bringing different regional temperatures. The album crosses lake shore, western drum pressure, highland wind, Swahili coast, and Rift Valley dryness through changing rhythmic density. Some pieces lean into interlock; others leave a lone bow, pluck, or rattle exposed, making the contrast between communal motion and solitary detail especially vivid.
