Bodu beru gives the album its low, rounded heartbeat, but the rhythm is often opened out into long pauses rather than pushed toward a peak. Thaara frame drums answer in dry interlocking patterns, while metal-pot strikes and crossed wooden sticks supply flashes of brightness above the pulse.
