Oud sets out measured modal phrases, with rebab sustaining their inner curve and qanun scattering fine tremolo around the cadences. Tar and bendir keep the pulse elegant and low, allowing the string lines to unfold without losing direction. Elsewhere, guembri brings a deep three-string ostinato and qraqeb lays a wide metallic lattice across the beat, creating a more earthy counterweight to the chamber pieces. High Atlas drum resonance, Souss bowed colour, northern reed calls, and Casablanca ensemble detail give the album a varied sense of Moroccan place.
