Gusli lays out a ringing grid of drones and repeated narrative cells, leaving svirel to stretch the upper line in long, unforced breaths. Zhaleika brings a more nasal reed pressure, while balalaika turns the texture dry and quick through tremolo, clipped replies, and hard dance stops. Northern passages linger over open fifths; central circle-dance pieces gather momentum around a clearer floor pulse, and Siberian colours pare the ensemble back again. The album's scale comes from these contrasts in duration, attack, and regional spacing rather than from orchestral weight.
